June/July Garden and Landscape Tips

In our first edition of our new blog series, The Southern View, we want to help you navigate this hot and humid heat and help your yard reach its bright and colorful potential!

The Importance of Heavy Watering In the South Carolina Heat

Summer hasn’t officially begun, and we’ve already seen high temperatures in the 90’s. Occasional showers have done nothing to fill the plants with adequate moisture to survive on their own. This is where your involvement in the plant growing process becomes important! We recommend to water heavily in the early mornings to help the roots grow deeper into the soil. Deeper roots mean the plants can reach more moisture which helps improve their overall strength.

It All Starts With the Soil!

The importance of soil to the overall health and growth of our flowers and plants is second only to adequate watering. Vivid Earth’s planting process involves several aspects that focus on sustainable healthy growth that gives our customers flowers with stronger blooms. We include compost to all of our flowers and plants. Compost helps to create an environment that fosters better growth and enrichment. Irrigation also helps create soil environments that make our flowers hardy and strong. Secondly, we include Drip irrigation. Our irrigation brings water directly to the area the roots occupy resulting in better water retention. Adequate mulching operates as a finishing touch outwardly to the common eye. However, 2-4 inches of mulch seals everything underneath while also acting as a protective layer. We also can’t forget to mention that mulch helps against pesky weeds which are a bain for everyone!

Vivid Earth Land Designs focuses not just on the design and installation of gardens and flower beds, but also on the strength of a plant’s growth. You can trust us to ensure your plants are able to live and thrive for years to come, especially in the South Carolina heat!
